History

The Igreja de São Miguel is believed to have been constructed in the 12th century, although its exact date of construction remains uncertain.

Tradition suggests that it was built using stones from the demolished Armamar Castle, before the foundation of the Salzedas Monastery.

However, opinions on this matter are divided, with some attributing its founding to Egas Moniz, aide of King D. Afonso Henriques.
